Our Team, Our Strength
Angel Massie (she/her) has honed her passion for the outdoors, and conservation by hiking over a lifetime, roaming the Blue Ridge and Catocotin Mountains. Before co-founding Wanderland Outdoors with her husband, Angel spent decades as a journalist, TV producer, and host, whose work has appeared on BET, Complex, Vibe, Essence, ABC, the Real News Network and TV One. Today, Angel is a trained meditation practitioner, and Kripalu Certified Mindful Outdoor Guide.
Her work focuses on using mindfulness, meditation, radical compassion, and the outdoors as tools to heal trauma in marginalized communities. She enjoys hiking, forest bathing, fishing and camping the Rocky Mountains of Colorado with her husband, NFL veteran Bobby Massie, and their two children.
Bobby Massie (he/him) is a lifelong angler, hunter and outdoorsman born in the foothills of the Virginia Blue Ridge Mountains. Recreating and co-existing with the outdoors is literally second nature to him.
Bobby is a philanthropist, contributing to the growth of organizations charged with the mission to uplift BIPOC individuals from disenchanted communities.
After a decade-long career in the NFL, including with the Arizona Cardinals, Chicago Bears, and Denver Broncos, Bobby put down roots in Colorado to establish his family’s legacy. Wanderland Outdoors is part of that legacy.
Fishing has been a passion for Austin’s whole life, while learning to fish for warm water species in Atchison, Kansas on his family Farm, to Fly Fishing Freestone and tailwaters of Colorado. Austin truly found the love for the sport in High School while fly fishing rivers in the front range of Colorado and took his passion to the east coast, while attending college at Penn State University.
During his time at Penn State, Austin was part of the track and field team as a high jumper, while still fly fishing at least three to four times a week, to learn tactics from Fly Fishing legends like George Daniels and Joe Humphreys.
Currently, Austin is a Fly Fishing guide at Wanderland Outdoors, and Trout’s Fly Fishing is located in Denver, Colorado, guiding on tailwaters and freestone rivers in the state. While also starting a nonprofit with others in the Denver area, Community Fly Fishing. The goal is to create opportunities for individuals who do not have equal access to sport and the outdoors. Community Fly Fishing provides free 101 sessions, guided outings, river conservation, and guide courses, taught by those who equally reflect Denver community’s demographic.
The outdoors is for all.
